how deep are the 3 lower drawers & are the drawer handles made from metal or plalstic? model # 41028

Answer : The drawers are about a foot deep & the handles are plastic.

Answer : The drawers are 6.5" deep and the handles are a good looking metal.

Answer : Well they pretty deep - um Id say about 10inches deep? and the handles are metal. Pretty snazzy

Answer : The dept of the drawers are standard for dressers/chests and the handles are made from metal, thats about the only solid part.

Answer : Drawer handles are metal.

hi is this real wood construction or pressed board with veneer finish?

Answer : Not real wood. I went through about 50+ dressers and the only real woods ones I found were running around $700+ so pressed board for me. Which it looks fine and should hold up okay.

Answer : Pressed board I think, but it's very sturdy. Look at how heavy the package is - I bet it weighs over 100 pounds.

Answer : It has both, very nice Finnish.

Answer : Pressed board!

Answer : It's pressed board...but a better quality than most.

Is this real wood or pressed wood?

Answer : It is pressed wood, overall very sturdy.

Answer : pressed wood with laminate. This would cost 3 to 4 times as much if it was real oak.

Answer : laminated wood, but what furniture is made of solid wood?

Answer : It is pressed wood

Nice dresser

This is a nice looking dresser. It has big and roomy drawers. Product arrived with no dings or dents. It's really pretty once all put together and sitting in the bedroom. Love the dark color. And it has a child safety feature I didn't even know about. Maybe I hadn't read the details close enough, but once one drawer is pulled out, the other drawers lock so the child cant make stairs out of the drawers and crawl up it. Pretty neat feature. The dresser itself was kind of a pain to put together.

Great value for the cost

I am very happy with the final product. Seems to be well built and heavy duty (114 lbs). It takes a bit of time to assemble it, but well worth the trouble. Just wish the top at least could have been real Oak instead of pressboard, but it still looks good.

easy set up and it looks great

bought this online and got it within a week. 5 days sooner than expected. It was easy to put together and looks great. Deep drawers that hold a lot.

A nice basic 4 drawer chest

This wasn't the first piece of furniture that I have assembled, so this one was fairly simple. Everything in the box was in perfect condition except one of the back legs was broken. It's on it's way right now, just like customer service told me. The drawer adjustments were easy to do and I don't see how this could be a difficult assembly if you follow the directions. The only thing that could be done to make it easier, would be to segregate the different types of hardware, instead of dumping them all in one bag. At least there wasn't any shortage of hardware.

Love it and the safety feature, looks more expensive and the oak color is beautiful.

Quite a bargain

This is a strong and sturdy dresser. The drawer assembly rivals much more expensive furniture. We bought this for a dresser/TV stand for a second home. We like it so much we are planning to get another Sauder chest for the bedroom TV in our primary home. It takes some time to assemble but the instructions are thorough and easy to follow. So, if you have the time and skill to assemble, this is a great buy.

Good Value

I bought this dresser for my daughter who is a junior in college. After much research, such as reading reviews on similar products, going to Goodwill and various "scratch & dent" type stores, this dresser had the most bang for my buck. It was EASY to put together but took some time to assemble, about 3+hours. The instructions were clear and if I needed more info, online videos were available through Sauder. The drawers are a good size for this type of dresser. It seems very sturdy, as long as the drawers are not over stuffed it should do the job nicely. It shipped quickly and was packed well; the only complaint I have is that a bit of the finish rubbed off during shipping and I needed to touch it up with a furniture maker, which was not a big deal to me.

Gorgeous dresser, confusing to put together

This dresser is gorgeous. The color is a little bit darker than the photo.\nThe directions could be more specific. The components were not labeled so it was a little tricky figuring out which piece was which. Though if you take your time and really look at everything you'll get it. It took my brother and I about 2 hours to put it together. We took our time to really match everything up.\nI love this dresser I really do. I can't wait to buy the larger one.\nMy favorite feature is the drawer catch. You can't have more than one drawer open at a time. This is to keep kids (and adults) from having the dresser topple over on top of them. Brilliant safety feature.\nAside from figuring out which piece is which, this is super easy to put together. No major tools needed. You'll need a hammer or mallet and a screw driver. That's it. It'll be even easier if you have 2 people to put it together.

Has held up well.

I bought this for my son 1 year and 8 months ago. It has held up well. He was 12 when we got it and it still looks new. It is not high quality Haverty's furniture but has done exactly as we needed it to do. It looks good and is in a teenagers room, although I would have no problem having the same set in my room. We bought the dresser, chest and night stand. We are very pleased. I do have to say take your time putting it together read the directions and count screws before you start. We were missing pieces on the dresser when we purchased but customer service was fantastic at Sauder and had the pieces out to us in a couple of days.

We bought this for our son's room and it is looks good with the whole Sauder Shoal Creek collection. The color was a little darker than we expected based on the picture online. It took about 1 hour to put together. The drawrers glide nicely. It does come with guards for the drawrers so that they do not pull out so quickly but when used, they are very hard to open so we took them off. Great item for the price!

Sauder Shoal Creek Chest of Drawers

Great frustration with assembly. Holes misaligned and unable to get the top and sides together.

A beautiful piece of furniture with good sized, nice deep drawers. I moved from a 6 drawer dresser and stilol have ample room in this chest of drawers.

A nice piece for my bedroom

My eyes go directly to my dresser as I step into my bedroom. It makes it look kinda elegant.\nI am very happy with my purchase and will be ordering the end table that goes with it to complete the look. I also just purchased a comforter set and I love that too.

Not worth the cost

Product took a long time to assembly, too many pieces, finally when were done and tried to lift the chest upright the front right leg broke off because of the cheap particle board. Now it is useless and we are out over $165. Please do not buy unless its assembled, even then becareful when you move it. Just do not buy the thing.

Great chest for the money

We've been living with this chest for a few weeks now and we're very happy with it. Overall, it looks a little better than I expected. Yes, you can tell that it's "assembly-required" furniture if you look closely. You're not going to mistake it for a real, solid oak piece. That said, it's one of the nicer assembly-required pieces that I've seen. It's sturdy and well-constructed. Drawers fit well and slide easily. Instructions were easy enough to follow, just organize your pieces/ parts before you start and *take your time.* I'm a petite woman and managed to put this together by myself. (It's quite heavy, so you might want to work on the assembly fairly close to where the piece is going to be when it's finished.)

Beautiful, Solid Pieces

I wanted a matching set so my wife and I could each have our own dresser, instead of me being relegated to one drawer. For the price, I wasn't expecting much, but these pieces look great and are incredibly sturdy for this type (particle board) of furniture. Assembly was easy, though it did take about 90 minutes for the first and a little over an hour for the second. Unlike some reviews, the drawers fit perfectly and did not require any adjusting.\n\nWhile scratches and dents are not uncommon when dealing with this kind of furniture, mine both arrived in perfect shape and remain so after months of every day use. If you want a piece of great looking, inexpensive furniture, do not hesistate to buy this!

Great chest of drawers!

My husband was able to put this together in about 3 hours. This unit looks great in our bedroom. We just needed some extra storage for my clothes and baby clothes. It exceeded expectations! It looks very nice. We did have some drawers that wouldn't open after we got it together but that was due to the weight limit. It's a great purchase and beats paying $400+ in a furniture store. I love it!

Awesome Price

Purchased this chest after it went on sale, I'm satisfied with it overall. Of course the box was super heavy, took about 4 hours to put it together by myself. Directions where simple and detailed, minimal tools needed. Did have to have help loading it and getting it in the house. Dresser looks great and meets every expectation I had and for the pice, well you can't beat that with a stick.

Looks great. Sturdy and well made. Ordered 2. Husband is wisely going to reinforce back panel for added strength(one chest going into 14 year old grandson's room). 4 Drawer chest is quite heavy, better my husband will assemble. Size is perfect, rooms rather small. Placing one chest on one side of bed and nightstand on the other for more floor space. Love the oak finish and style.

Okay, not great

You get what you pay for. Frankly, Ikea furniture is better made. The surface of this scratches really easily. It was pretty easy to put together, but time consuming. It's particle board with a coating over it. It looks nice when it's put together, but I question how long it will last. We'll see.
