Are both units battery operated?

Answer : No, just the listening side. The side the caretakers listen to

Answer : No only one can be operated on 2 AA batteries: the receiver one.

Answer : No, just the parents end.

Answer : No, only the parental unit uses batteries. You do have the option of using the provided ac adapter as well.

Answer : No. Only the monitor that stays with the parent takes batteries.

Answer : Both can be plugged in, only the Parent Unit is also battery-compatible.

what type of batteries does it take, and how long do they last

Answer : AAA's

Answer : 2 AA batteries. I use it for most of the day so it lasted about two weeks

Answer : AAA but it never worked on battery mode for me because it wouldn't turn off... and it cut in and out

Answer : It takes three triple A batteries. Not sure how long they last; I thought the units were terrible and am returning mine.

Answer : It takes AAA batteries and how long the batteries last depends on the brand you buy and how often you use it with it not plugged into the wall.

Can this set operate plugged in rather than on batteries?

Graco Sound Select Audio Monitor 2L03

BABY MONITOR

WORKS REALLY GREAT. NEEDED SOMETHING TO HEAR THE GRAND BABY, BUT WANTED SOMETHING INEXPENSIVE.

Works, but definitely not same quality as others

We've owned several monitors over the years, and this by far is the most disappointing. It serves its purpose - it works. But it works more off of a 'walkie-talkie' type system rather than just having an open line. It is very sensitive. Picks up on vehicles going down the road or water running through the pipes. For daytime use I can tolerate it. But at night when all is quiet, the sound of the monitor 'cutting on' to alert you of noise is worse than hearing the baby cry! If you've never used a more expensive monitor, it may not bother you. But we've had the Summer Infant video monitors in the past and I'll gladly pay 3-4 times the amount for it (and will be returning this one). Those monitors keep an open line, so there's no cutting on and off. Just the sound of the baby when they make noise. If you need something cheap for daytime use only, this will work. But don't bother using it at night if you want any sleep.

Not just for baby

I actually bought this so I could keep an "ear" on my garage while firing a kiln overnight. I usually fire during the day but was facing a deadline, and I don't like the idea of having something heating to over 2000 degrees while I'm asleep. From inside the house I am unable to hear any alarms that might go,off indicating a problem.\n\nThis worked great. I used the AC adapter and set the monitor up near my bed, and I was able to hear even the faint clicks that meant the kiln was running. There was no static even though I was separated by walls and metal doors.\n\nThe only problem I experienced was static while the monitor was in the living room with the TV on. That is probably to be expected, but once I was away from that, the reception was crystal clear. Great product for the price.

Great baby moniter and a great price!!!!

I absolutely love this product. I have seen fancier models with all there gadgets but this is simple and straight forward. It works wonderful. You don't ever hear static or background noise just baby. It's solid and doesn't feel cheap like other low priced moniters. I would recommend this to anyone no matter their budget. It's well worth every penny!

Impressed!

I wanted to buy a cheap baby monitor. Nothing fancy, just something that I can use to hear my son in his crib. This passed my expectations for only being $15! The static filter is fabulous. If you turn that on, it turns off all the static/white noise, and you only hear your baby. I paid almost $100 for my first son (2 years ago) it wasn't nearly as impressive.

Did not like it at all

Wasted my money

Very poor product

Walmart delivery was great. Product did not work properly with batteries or plugged in. Mainly static, nothing else. On was really off, off was on at least as far as I could tell. Although it was inexpensive I still felt it should work properly

Love it, even if I did pay extra haha

I'll be honest, I bought this from Target for $24 because I live closer to a Target and needed it that night, but I honestly believe it is worth the $24 I paid for it! It works really well and I am a very happy customer. My only complaint is that when someone passes by the in hallway while they are on, the static starts up, but dies down when the person passes... But to be fair, there are two walls between the monitors so I don't fault the product for that because it specifically says try NOT to have too many walls between them.

STATICS ALL THE TIME

I bought these a few months ago because they were all I could afford at the time. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!! Sure you can hear your kid and the range is really good but it makes a static noise all the time and if you switch on the option to cut out static you can't hear anything through the monitor at all anymore. The monitors work great aside from that one issue but it is so annoying that you want to just throw them through a window.

Bought today, returning tomorrow--don't buy it!

Graco generally makes nice products, but this one is terrible. We followed the instructions for setup, but the monitors just didn't work well, even though they were only about 35 feet apart. Heard a lot of static, but the monitor picked up little noise from the baby's room when an adult was doing a voice test; could barely hear the adult amid the static.\n\nI am returning this product. Don't waste your time and money.

Loud static noise, even when receiver was OFF.

I don't know if this was a faulty set or if all the monitors are like this. All I know is that the listening device/receiver monitor made the LOUDEST static noise if it was plugged in, even if you turned it OFF. It was so bizarre. I returned it. I don't recommend this.

great on a budget

Got this and on one channel its staticy but works perfact on other channel I would recommend this to any parent on a budget and I live in an apartment complex

Certainly runs great.

Don't pay too much money other expensive products if you are just looking for an audio monitor. This will help you to hear clearly your baby's sounds.

Would not buy this

So I bought this because our other one was damaged and didn't wont to spend allot of money because my son is 2 and wouldn't need one to much longer. The sound on this thing s awful you can barely hear him crying even with the volume all the way up. I cant put it near any other electrical device or it make a loud static noise. Would spend a little extra money and buy a better one.

Excellent! No problems with reception!

This is my 3rd attempt at buying a baby monitor for my elderly mother. This one works GREAT! I thought I misplaced it as I couldn't find it to place in our bedroom. There is NO feedback with our metal roof!

Thought this box was optional....guess not!

At first I thought the unit was malfunctioning because I couldn' t hear everything going on in the room all the time. Then it occured to me that it transmits when the noise changes. When the baby makes a noise, the monitor transmits to the parents receiver and then clicks back off for a bit. It save battery power for those time you're using batteries and not AC voltage.

Simple, straightforward monitor

We got this monitor to replace another one that broke not too long ago. We seem to have a lifespan of about 6 mos-1 year on our monitors. (I'm not sure why? Maybe we just live in a bunch of a wonky houses or something because we certainly don't abuse them at all.) Anyway, I got this one based on the price to be honest. $15 for a monitor! Awesome! For the price, it works better than I would think it would. Of course, we haven't had it all that long either so I really can't comment on the durability of it. What I can say is that it is just a simple monitor...no bells and whistles. One receiver. One parent unit. On/off switch. White noise filter: I will comment on that. The noise filter works ok, but it's not very good at blocking out the white noise...It just blocks it until there is a noise in the room and then the noise and the fluff all come through the monitor at the same time. So this leads to the monitor going off randomly and being really loud...so it's got a small little quirk, but I mean, if you want a simple monitor that's cheap and works well...this one is fine.

Great for the price

Monitor works good. Occasionally has a light buzzing noise but for a general use monitor it does the job and cannot beat the price!

Horrible!

It was suppose to filter out the static, and I thought background noises such as a sound machine, but it is worse that the Safety First monitor, which is actually very nice compared to this one. I bought this one because everyone said it was much better quality AND FILTERED OUT BACKGROUND NOISES, HA! It makes it's very own horrible noises constantly without the help of my sound machine! On top of that, I can barely hear when baby cries, and I have the mic about two feet from his bed! Any closer and he would be able to reach it. The Safety First picks up his voice and amplifies it over the sound machine which the sound machine doesn't sound as loud on the Safety First as it does on the Graco. Not happy with Graco. Going back to Safety First, and yes, the sound machine is soooo worth the roaring noise. No, the Graco is not worth hearing gosh awful noises that it makes on it's own and the sound machine put together.
