Can it be painted??

Hi, I really want the White but it's no longer available. I was thinking about ordering one of the other colors and then painting it antique white. I'd like to know if the product has a varnish on it or if you think the finish would prevent me from doing that. I don't want to have to sand it.

Answer : I also wanted a white one, but since there were none available and I liked the size and style of the desk, I decided to go with the black and just paint it the color that I want. I just got mine and put it together (very easy) and hope to get it painted this weekend. The original finish is a glossy finish (and in my opinion, has a funny smell that I don't care for). If you were to use a latex paint for this, you would likely have to sand to get it to stick. I am going to be using Chalk Paint on mine. Using the Chalk Paint will eliminate the need to sand/prime because it usually adheres to most any surface. As far as colors, they have a "Pure White" and and "Old White." Old White has a little more yellow to it. I have a mix of both (1 part of each) that I plan to use on my desk. Chalk Paint has a flat finish, so if you are looking for a very glossy finish, you would have to top it with some sort of lacquer. Otherwise, you can seal it with the clear wax that they sell. You can order Chalk Paint online: or go to one of their retailers if they have one close to you. Search for retailers at Hope this helps!

Answer : Yes, I would say it can be painted. Very good material, seems to be good wood:)

What are the table top's dimensions?

Only the dimensions of the rectangular part of the top, not including the curved bevel edge. I plan to add a plexi glass top to keep the top from getting scratched.

Answer : About 36 length, about 21 1/2 deep

What material is this desk made of?

Answer : It is MDF wood.

Great, functional and stylish desk.

Super easy to install desk. Fast shipping to home. Desk is very nice and elegant. The legs are little wobbly, but the table still stands sturdy on four legs. There were some scuff marks on the legs, but not that noticeable. Overall, I would recommend this desk.

Good basic desk

We use this for a desk in the kitchen. The desk has what they probably consider a feature, but is just a pain. They make the front of the drawer tip down, probably so it can be a keyboard surface. Since we use a laptop, we want the drawer to be a true drawer. They should have a way to stop the front from tipping down whenever you open the drawer. Otherwise it is a great desk.

Very nice for the price. Sturdy and quick assembly.

just what i wanted

love this desk, super easy to set up. just screw on the legs and u good to go. i love it.

Best choice I could have made!

I carefully researched desks and read a lot of reviews. This is one of the few pieces of furniture that ranked high on quality and value! This is for my study and it goes in there perfectly!

Love it! Looks great!

Love this product. Worth the money. High quality.

Nice, sturdy desk.

This desk not only looks fantastic, but it is also very sturdy and is easy to put together. Love it.

beautiful little desk

Great Desk!!!

Easy to assemble and great value for the money.. looks great too!!!

I purchased my French Country Writing Desk to use as a laptop/desk work station. It was incredibly simple to put together. I have the Cherry top finish which matches the furniture in that room. I topped it with a cut piece of smoked glass for better protection . The look is simple yet elegant and the function is quite sound and solid. The only functional items that I added were 4 felt tips for the bottom of the legs in order to not scratch my hardwood floors...I would highly recommend this desk, it's quality for the cost is excellent...

Very classy and worth the price

This desk is well-worth the price tag: elegant and decent construction. The sliding drawer/typing tray is a nice feature. As a side note, the first time I ordered this product it arrived badly damaged. To my surprise, Site to Store customer service was very prompt in replying to my email and arranged for a replacement with the week. Impressed!

Beautiful writing desk!

I love my new writing desk. The pull out keyboard is the only thing to give this less than a perfect rating as I had to remove the drawer cover since it didn't fold down completely but added another 2-3 inches to my distance from the desk.\n\nWould recommend this for a beautiful, unconventional work desk.

Love it!

It is a nice simple piece. Sturdy and looks beautiful. Matches my home perfectly!

not bad, could be a little better

The top is very heavy and well made, but I can't say the same for the legs. They really should have made this with heavier and more solid legs. So it's top heavy. I really needed something for my sewing machine, so for now it's ok, but I was a little disappointed, just because many others gave such good reviews. Because of how the legs are, I would not use it for anything too heavy, that would make me nervous. But for now it suits my needs, and it looks ok

Great Quality for the price!

Love this desk! I have dual monitors for my job and this desk allows me to use them and still have writing space.I bought the white one and it fits in beautifully with my Shabby Chic bedroom/home office.

It was as described and easy to add the legs

It's a great desk for the price. I am very happy and it fits in the space I have available for it. The only thing to add to the desk are the 4 legs and the knob for the keyboard tray. That only took minutes to do. Very simple, easy and quick!

I was amazed at how well built this desk was for the price. Minimal to assemble and looks like a quality piece of furniture. They even give you the scratch cover stick in case of future bumps. Well packaged, no damage whatsoever. Great drawer space and looks charming in my daughter's room. She LOVES it! I am really pleased and impressed with this purchase. Great value for the price...highly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful desk!

I love this desk! I put it together myself very easily! Everything was in the box and did not require any additional tool! How easy! I use it as a computer desk, set the keyboard (wireless) on top and use the drawer to hold pens and such. It's simple lines makes it looks elegant and expensive. Great buy!

Highly Recommend

I purchased this item a few weeks ago to put in our new home to use as a desk for our laptop computer in the sunroom so I can watch the kids while they are on the computer. It is a great size, very sturdy and looks amazing!\n\nIt was so easy to assemble, all of the parts and pieces arrived with no damage and in good condition. It was light enough for me to lift and turn by myself.\n\nThe price for this piece was UNBELIEVABLE! It is a very expensive looking piece for the price. It shipped in less than the time that was estimated and we have been very pleased with it. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice piece of furniture at a reasonable price.

Doooooo eeeeeeeet

I sat and hemmed and hawed over buying this desk for like two weeks. I was an idiot. It's perfect: fits in the space I have, beautiful color/design, sturdy as all get-out, has a small drawer for keeping stuffs, and it's big enough to fit my 23" monitor, laptop stand, laptop, Wacom tablet, mouse/mousepad, keyboard, and some other odds and ends. It also goes together REALLY quick; I did it myself in like 10 minutes. It's just 8 screws and BAM, you're golden.\n\nThe only beefs (and they're not really beefs, just minor annoyances) I have with it are that: 1. there isn't a hole drilled in the bottom of the drawer for cords if you want to keep a keyboard in there, 2. the drawer also flips down in front and is held by magnets that aren't the strongest. I'm not a small person, and when I sit with my legs crossed, my knees sometimes hit the drawer and it flips down, and 3. it may also be a little high for someone who is on the short side. I'm 5'8" and sometimes when I'm resting my hands on my keyboard, it's a tiny bit uncomfortable. It's made of wood though so if it's too high, just saw the legs down a bit and you're set. I'm not going to bother, personally, because like I said, it's a minor annoyance.\n\nOverall though, it's a great desk and it looks super nice and professional. I am telling you, buy it!
