does this phone take a sim card

Answer : Tee, this phone, contrary to the description, is not unlocked and has a model number that corresponds to a Boost Mobile branded Moto G. The model number as you can see near the bottom of this page is "MOT1031ABB" and that is this phone at Boost Mobile (copy-and-paste): http://www.boostmobile.com/shop/phones/moto-g/ It will be required to be used at Boost Mobile and Walmart is a reseller selling it for Boost Mobile. If you want an unlocked Moto G (or one that does use a SIM card), it will cost substantially more but an unlocked Moto G can be used with a SIM card with a GSM provider of your choice. Here is an unlocked Moto G at Walmart selling for $224.21 that can "take a SIM card" (copy-and-paste): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Motorola-MOTO-G-XT1032-16GB-Smartphone-Unlocked-Black/36125978 ...it may be temporarily out of stock so keep checking back if you see that it is.

Answer : This phone is configured CDMA using Boost Mobile and the Sprint network. It will not use a SIM card. It is NOT a GSM phone!!! It is NOT an unlocked phone! I'm almost certain the description is wrong as it does not fit the model number given. If you purchase this particular phone, the MOT1031ABB, it is not configured to accept a SIM card.

Answer : No, it does not.

Answer : The phone takes a micro sim, but not a normal sim. Most companies however have micro sims as well. http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_moto_g-5831.php

does this phone have a micro sd slot?

Answer : With mine, I popped off the back cover and that is where I found the micro sd card slot. Of course, I downloaded and read the online manual.

Answer : no it does not the sd card is built in the phone

Answer : My understanding is that this model does NOT have an SD card slot.

Where can I buy the USB cable that fits the Moto G

Answer : You can purchase the "official" one from Boost Mobile for $19.99 or buy a generic one for as little as $3.40 from Walmart. Boot Mobile cable (copy-and-paste): https://checkout.boostmobile.com/bpdirect/boost/AddItem.do?action=view&zip=&qty=1&pveId=23305084 Generic cable from Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/V7-6-Micro-USB-A-to-Micro-USB-B-Male-to-Male-USB-2.0-Cable/16419441 They will both do the exact same thing.

Answer : The USB cable that fits this phone is a micro USB cable. Most electronic stores sell them because they are the industry standard for smart phones.

Best phone I have ever had!

I love this phone! A big plus is the screen has gorilla glass and doesn't scratch. I have had this phone since last Christmas and the screen still looks shiny, no scratches and I usually have to use screen protectors, not wi this phone. My sister dropped her IPhone in the toilet, Verizon told her it would cost $750.00 to replace it , this Moto G is waterproof, tested to work while under water. Also this screen is bigger than her IPhone. I love the google now, when traveling I just say where's Kohls and it speaks directions to me. I couldn't be happier with a phone.

Good enough for my budget!

Have had this phone since March, 2014...\n\nThe Good Points:\n1. Gorilla Glass - Despite having Gorilla Glass protecting the screen/display, I still use a screen protector to keep it in good shape (force of habit).\n2. Screen Display - Colors are nice, especially if you keep the brightness at a higher percentage (I keep mine at 40 to 50% to save the battery).\n3. Battery Life - At 2070mAh, by the end of my day's usage (sending/receiving few texts, making/receiving calls, light surfing on the browser), it still has 75% power left over. Pretty good compared to my old phone.\n4. Call Quality - Good, nice audio while talking with callers, both ways.\n5. Picture Quality - For a phone, it does take fairly, decent pics, as expected. Taking Panoramic pics is fast, since the user doesn't need to sweep slowly.\n\nThe Bad Points:\n1. Speakerphone mode - Audio output while in speakerphone mode is weak. Hard to hear the caller, especially in a noisy environment.\n2. Screen Size - Although it boasts a 4.5" display, the user is only getting 4.1" of actual, visual display, because the Home keys is incorporated into part of the 4.5" space.\n3. Not SD Card Friendly - The user cannot install an SD card to obtain more space for storage. All apps are installed onto the internal disc drive only.\n4. Non-removable Battery - The battery cannot be removed, if needed, to perform resets.\n5. Settings Key - To access the Settings, user must swype downward from the top of the screen, then tap the square icon at the top, right corner, to access the Settings.\n\nI needed a phone with a little bigger display for my aging eyes. When I saw that this phone had a 4.5" display (my old phone had a 4" display), I thought it would suit my needs. Needless to say, I was disappointed to discover that the actual viewing space was much smaller than 4.5, since the Home Keys are incorporated into part of the display space. The only good thing is that it's a little wider. Also disappointing was the speakerphone audio output while making calls. In a noisy environment, it was difficult to hear the person I was talking with, so I had to converse with the person in regular mode. In regular mode, I could hear the other person very well, and the person I'm speaking with could hear me without difficulty.\n\nSince ownership, besides using a screen protector, I also installed a phone case to give me a better grip on the phone while using it. Without a case, the phone was a little difficult to hold onto because of its slimline design. That, and because there's no textured finish on the battery cover, the chances of slippage is even greater. By using a case, it made texting and call making much easier, without fear of dropping the phone.\n\nThe phone has the standard, Android messaging app, which is somewhat dull. Since ownership, I've installed another messaging app from Google Play to give my messages a little more life to it. I've also installed another keyboard, since the standard keyboard left much to be desired (I'm not a fan of Swyping).\n\nBattery life on this phone is good. Depending on your individual usage, the percentage may differ from my use, since I'm not a heavy user. I've installed a battery saver app previously, but am not sure if it's just me, but have found that the battery drained faster using such an app. After uninstalling the app, the battery seems to live a better life. So in my opinion... a battery saver app is not needed. Of course, another factor with ensuring battery life is turning off apps running in the background and reducing the brightness percentage.\n\nDespite the few flaws, have never had any real, major problems with the phone, or the service that it's attached to (Boost Mobile). I've never had problems with reduction in speed while surfing, or opening apps. This could be attributed to the fact that I am always cleaning out my internet trash when done surfing (clear out the History and clean out the Ram memory), to ensure decent memory levels for my next jaunt. The phone does what I need it to do, for now. I am looking at other phones to replace this one, but am in no real hurry. It serves my needs for the moment, so am gonna keep it around for awhile.

Love this phone!

Really great phone, lots of storage, very fast, camera with a flash. I was able to download all of my favorite apps, plus my kids download their games, and still have lots of room. Large screen and waterproof. Upgraded to 4.4.4 KitKat also. Very happy with this phone, and love the price!

EXCEEDED

this phone exceeded my expectations. most definitely recommend this phone for boost, verizon and soon to straight talk. best value by far!!!

My new favorite phone

I've had some great phones in the past and have coveted even more. Samsung's high end Galaxy models come to mind. My last phone was a Motorola Droid, which I did like, but had outgrown. I decided, however, that I wanted to purchase a phone that was not going to break the bank to go along with my value priced phone plan. After some research, I decided on the Moto G, because it was as close as I was going to come to the Moto X. I truly felt apprehensive; I don't like to settle at any time. Imagine my elation when I realized that I HAD NOT! It has enough storage for my needs. I don't plan to go "App Happy" this time, only downloading what I want, love and/or need. I like the slim design. I am also pleased with the large, sturdy screen and the waterproof feature (After only having it for two days, my cat spilled some of my water on it and I went immediately into panic mode. But no need, because it remained perfectly fine!}. The camera is really superior to most. Even my daughter, the family geek and IT Dept, commented on what a great picture it gave. The beauty of my Instagram posts speak for themselves. Best of all, it's fast. I was really surprised at the speed. Even with the best Galaxy phone in my past, which has been dethroned as my fave, I did not experience such great efficiency. I am truly happy with this product. I don't believe it is possible to get anything better at this price and anyone who is on the fence should NOT be concerned about making a mistake.

Absolutly Great Cell Phone

I can't believe the price. This is what Others should emulate, a truly fast, powerful well designed product at an affordable Price. Specs and performance beat my HTC at a third of the price. It's comfortable in the hand, and the screen seems larger than it is with crisp and clear display, you can easily read text, watch video,. No bloat Wear, and quickly and easily updated to the very latest Android op sys. I can see why Engaget called this phone easily the best affordable Cell Phone. The only drawback is the limited storage (8gb), but with rapid Cloud Storage, this has not been an issue. Highly recommend.

It's no moto x but the next best thing

Maybe its that I have gotten used to the moto x but the only real difference is the quailty of the camera and the screen size. Overall you can't beat this phone for the price. Its worth much more than what it's selling here for. I like the calls via wifi feature also. I pay $25/ month for unlimited text data & wifi / 3G calling through Republic wireless. I'm not sure what straight talk charges but I think its close to double that.

Beats my Samsung

Some reviewers have mention the lack of a card slot. Pop off the back cover and that's where you will find the micro sd card slot. Download the manual online and do some reading.

Great if your into these things.

This is my first smartphone and I'll admit right away, I didn't really want or need it. I bought one for my daughter and once I did that it was only a matter of time before I'd buckle to the pressure and give up my old reliable flip phone.\n\nThere are many things that are cool about this Moto G and many things that I just don't have a use for at this time. I mean I have a computer, two actually, so at this time I don't need another tiny one in my pocket, but I realize that may change. I am amazed at how good photo's and video's display on such a tiny screen. Anyway, as I learn more on the phones capabilities and learn my way around I am liking it more.\n\nI paid $100 for my daughter's Moto G in Oklahoma. About a month later I got mine for $65 in California. Heck, for $65 bucks I figured, why not, I have to start somewhere. Several friends have told me that I got a great deal. I guess I'll take their word for it:)

This is a replacement phone for one that I broke. I wish my daughter had found it instead of payingb$80 at a much competitive store. The phone works great ......I have had no problems whatsoever. Boost Moto G

I have owned this phone personally for over a year now and have had no issues whatsoever with it! I just love this phone and its capabilities. I talked my parents into getting them and they love them too! It is a very inexpensive phone and I was skeptical when I bought mine, but I have loved it! The camera takes good pics and the battery life is excellent. I have all kinds of apps loaded onto mine and I haven't run out of space. LOVE IT!
