Can the Usb port be used to store assignments from school?

As far as assignments, projects, ect...

Answer : it depends on what you put in the usb port. If you plug in a flash drive, then yes it can, if you plug in a wireless adapter then no

Answer : No, it is for connecting the internet if you don't have a (working) internal wireless network card.

Router Adapter Information

I have windows vista and my daughter has windows xp.I bought a netgear router so what i need to know will this adapter work for her computer?

Answer : Yes, My sister lives on the 1st floor and has windows xp on her laptop. I live on the second floor and I have a vista desktop it works beautiful, but I did wonder why it was working but lost its connection. I had to reinsert the disk and than go to my control panal, click device manager, then click rangemax and the computer found it. It has been working every since I love it.

Answer : As long as you have the correct drivers for the USB adapter it will work just fine. Just use the same connection information on her xp machine as you did for your vista.

does this adapter come with a stand /cord

Answer : No. It resembles a USB and just plugs into the usb port.

Answer : No, it doesn't need one. This adapter is plugged into one of the USB outlets on your computer. It looks a lot like a flash drive, very small.

Junk!!!!

This thing is a piece of junk.... I've had to use one of these 2 times. Both times, the thing just died. Considering it is USB, it is supposed to be made to be a little more rugged. This is not the case. If you plan to move around much, this product WILL become useless.

works good at first

the first week or two you have this product, it does what it says but after that you have to go through an entire process everyday to connect. for some reason it loses connection with the router once or twice a day, randomly. and the program that comes with it doesnt help much. to get the most out of this product, dont install the program that comes with it, instead, use the default windows wireless setup to get a good connection.

Wireless Adapter

I wanted a wireless adapter that works with Windows ME, the description said it did, but it does not. It will work with XP.

Owned Belkin router, network adapter integrated seamlessly. Would recommend product.

Great product, really great price!!

Works great with Windows 7, took a little work to get the driver installed but after that it works blazing fast every time! Much easier and cheaper to deal with than a pci card adapter. Definitely worth trying this first.

Installed seamlessly. Quickly recognized all available signals. Once connected, the signal did not drop. Perfectly happy.

Recommend!!

It was extremely easy to use. Works great! Good, affordable price! 5*****Stars from me!

Not worth trouble vs cost.

I got 2 of these for my 2 PC's across in a strait line of my router. First issue is windows networking conflicts with thier software so you have to connect with thier software then disable it so it will stay connected. Then. Every hour or so it will loose singal from full strength. Remember I have 2 of these.. And I've tried them both.. Same Issue. Save yourself the trouble. Go Linksys or wired.. GL

BUT watch the INSTALLATION

This product did not install correctly until I followed the directions of a previous reviewer. Follow him and you will be very happy with this product.

Belkin Wireless-G 54Mbps USB Network Adapter

I bought this wireless adapter in hopes it would work on my Ubuntu 10.04 computer. I had tried a couple others that would not work without a great amount of work. However, I plugged this one in and it instantly connected - nothing else was reuired. It is very nice to have finally found a wireless adapter for Ubuntu and it is very reasonably priced.

Did not work

I bought this because I had a different belkin model that worked great but they do not have the drivers for windows 7. Well this one does not have drivers for windows 7 either and I am having a hard time finding one that will work I am now looking at a 3rd one because the roswell i bought did not work either even though the cd had window 7 install on the disc. Very frustrating :(

it works

It was easy to install and I didn't need any extra help.

Not User Friendly

If the product worked, it probably would have been fine. However, Belkin Customer Service couldn't/didn't help one bit. Therefore, I returned it and bought an adapter made by a different company which installed easily and perfectly.

Just what I needed!

I am very pleased with this wireless adapter and found it to be just what I needed. I choose this product because my router is also Belkin, and so I thought this might be more compatible than a different brand.\n\nIt's very easy to physically install. Just insert the CD it comes with, follow a very quick and easy installation process, and then insert the adapter into your USB port when it tells you to. That's all there is to it.\n\nI did have problems initially with connecting to the internet; it displayed the "Limited Or No Connectivity" error message and wouldn't connect. After trying a couple of things I simply turned off the computer, unplugged the router, waited for three minutes, and then turned everything back on. To my astonishment, it WORKED, and I've been connected to the internet ever since.\n\nThe speed and performance is just rated as "Good" on the box (out of "Good," Better," or "Best"), but I think the speed is just fine and I found it to be more than adequate to suit my needs.\n\nI hope you find this review useful. (:

Buy something else

Moving farther from the router necessitated buying a usb adapter. I ended up with this one and I am not pleased with it. I installed the software first as per the directions but could not get it to work for several days. I finally unplugged it from its stand and into my computer. Strike one: the stand doesn't work. The adapter will randomly disconnect from the router and I have to open up the dialog box to reconnect it. Strike two: disconnecting. After owning it for 9 months, it has started to not reconnect using the dialog box, at which point, I have to unplug it and plug it back in and occasionally restart my comp. Strike three: an overall hassle. It's out, I'm buying a different one.\n\nI have had A+ training in computer repair and networking. I have a pretty good idea about what I'm doing. I think this is a horrible product and would strongly recommend a different wireless adapter.

Great Little Wireless Card

I purchased this wireless card about six months ago after purchasing a new PC. We live in a three level townhome. The router is located on the bottom level and the older PC which is located on the top level get's excellent signals. Every now and then it will slow down, but I basically do are refresh and it starts to work just fine. I also have a laptop and when we hooked the router up, it picks up with no problem. I can use the laptop on all levels and any area in the house. Getting ready to purchase an HP that is not wireless, but a great computer, so I will be purchasing a second Belkin for this computer which will be located in the master bedroom. The only thing is I wished I knew about using the Windows instead of the software that came with the Belkin. Perhaps I will see if it works with Windows 7 on the new computer. P.S. I am a middle age woman who is not a computer guru and was able to get this up and running in 10 minutes. Follow the directions and it will work. Our router is a N - Gear, so Belkin works perfectly with it!

Easy to set up and use...

I saw some other negative reviews of this product, and I thought i'd give my $.02. I bought two of these adapters for my kids' cyberschool computers. The installation is straightforward on WinXP, but you MUST install the software FIRST! Using these cards with a linksys wrt54g router, my kids can use the computers in the basement, and the router is on the 2nd floor at 48MB/s. Not bad! I will buy these again when I need a quick networking solution.

Belkin Wireless G

Overall this item is very user friendly. I simply plugged it in my Windows XP device wizard detected it and prompted for the cd. after doing that it installed the drivers with out a problem. The big plus is that it came with a utility program that allows you to manage your wi fi networks via the XP network wizard or through the Belkin utility program ( either works very well ) i have had no problems andin fact recomended it to a few of my friends

Only Install The Driver!

There are some reviews from people having problems with dropped connections, etc. Here's a general rule of thumb for all Windows wireless peripherals -- DON'T INSTALL THE 3RD PARTY WIRELESS CONTROLLER SOFTWARE. It never works and always conflicts with the default Windows wireless controller.\n\nSo to get the Belkin F5D7050 working seamlessly, insert the CD that comes in the box, but DON'T install anything. Then plug in the Belkin USB device. When Windows starts looking for a driver, choose the option for specifying a location and choose your CD-ROM drive.\n\nWindows will find the driver, install it, recognize the device, automatically detect wireless networks using the default Windows wireless controller and you'll be connected with no drops, issues, etc.

I wanted a wireless adapter that works with Windows ME, the description said it did, but it does not. It will work with XP.

Doesnt work with Windows ME

We bought this to set up an old desktop computer that is running Windows ME to connect wirelessly. After many attempts it was discovered that we needed to upgrade and replace the USB port to support this device. We were able to connect to the internet once this was done, however many programs needed to install Flash player, which our system does not support. Be sure to check your complete operating system and USB ports before purchasing this item. Basically, we replaced the dial up port to a 2.0 port. Since we couldnt get the Flash to work, we cant use this device.
