when the cat holds the mouse for a few seconds, does the wand stop moving and need to be restarted?

Answer : Nope. Watch the cat, if it stops they'll get frustrated and swat at it, then it takes off again.

Answer : Unfortunately, our unit stopped working altogether within minutes. It went back and forth in a semi-random fashion, one kitten swatted the tail, another grabbed the tail and let go, then it went back and forth one more time, then it died. We replaced the batteries 3 times. It never restarted. It was completely dead and it's going back to Walmart for a credit. I hope you had better luck.

Answer : My cats stop it, and the motor just keeps on running until they let it go, and the wand starts moving again. It's not a mouse. It's just a little red thing, that looks like it could be a tail.

Answer : We bought this for a Christmas gift for our cat we have not tried it it we hope it works great and not have any problems with it.

Answer : No all it does is humm

Answer : It starts back up after she lets go of the wand. However, the motor burns out in no time from the cat catching the mouse.

Answer : It stops but restarts as soon as the cat let's it go.

Answer : No, it should continue to move after they let it go. If you bought it from Walmart it maybe broken... mine was when I received it. Or it may need more batteries... depends on how long you have use it.

Answer : No, typically it just makes this horrible squealing noise until the cat gets bored and lets go of the wand.

Answer : the wand will stop but the batteries keep running. there is no automatic shut off, that is the only thing that could make this toy better.

wand

The wand will not stay in. Every two seconds I have to put it back in the hole. Does anyone else have this problem? It is really frustrating!

Answer : Just use a drop of glue.

Answer : Yes. Unfortunately, the wand does not stay put.

Answer : It fell out when Caroline would grab onto it and stop it, but otherwise, it was fine.

Answer : super glue

Can you buy exta wands, my cat broke a wand

Answer : No, but you can replace it with a small metal plant stake by drilling out the holes where the plastic wand attaches and gluing it in. Try as they might, the cats can't break them. But after that is fixed, the motor gear, which is also plastic, will also wear out. It took about two months to go.

Answer : I'm not sure but my cat has bent his up. It is a light weight metal with a plastic cover. I would suggest a part of an old clothes hander with a piper cleaner taped to it. That will keep your kitty busy till you find one.

AWESOME ENTERTAINMENT FOR OUR CAT & US WATCHING

MY MOM HAD SEEN THIS IN A TV AD AND WANTED FOR HER CAT AND OUR SON'S CATS...UNFORUNATELY MY MOM PAST AWAY IN AUGUST...SO SHE NEVER GOT TO BUY IT...MY HUSBAND & I WERE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING AND WALKED BY A ENDCAP DISPLAY FILLED WITH THE "CAT'S MEOW"...WE COULD NOT...NOT GET TWO AS MOM HAD WANTED...MOM'S/OUR CAT ABSOLUTELY LOVES HIS CAT'S MEOW...RIGHT FROM THE MOMENT WE SET IT ON THE FLOOR...EVEN BEFORE WE TURNED IT ON...SPUNKY BOOTS TOTALLY PLAYED WITH IT...HE PLAYS SO LONG AND HARD HE WIPES HIMSELF OUT...HE EVEN PULLS IT TOWARD HIS BED...LAYS DOWN LIKE HE IS GOING TO TAKE NAP...THEN HE BATS AT IT AND WATCHES IT GO BACK AND FORTH...AS HE FALLS ASLEEP...THEN WE VERY QUIETLY TURN IT OFF WHILE SLEEPS...BUT WHEN HE WAKES AND IT IS STILL TURNED OFF...HE BOUNCE ON IT AND STARTS PLAYING ALL OVER AGAIN...SPUNKY IS 10 ALMOST 11 YEARS OLD...HE PLAYS WITH HIS CAT'S MEOW LIKE A LITTLE KITTEN...IT IS JUST AS MUCH FUN AND ENTERAINING FOR US TO WATCH HIM AS IT IS FOR HIM TO PLAY WITH IT...MY MOM WOULD OF LOVED TO HAVE WATCHED HER SPUNKY BOOTS WITH HER GIFT OF HIS CAT'S MEOW...BUT WE KNOW SHE IS WATCHING FROM HEAVEN AND WE ALSO THINK SPUNKY KNOWS HIS CAT'S MEOW IS A GIFT FROM HIS HUMAN MOM...NOW IF THE WEATHER WOULD JUST CLEAR LONG ENOUGH SO WE CAN TAKE HER CAT'S MEOW TO OUR SON'S CATS TO ENJOY TOO...THANK YOU MOM FOR SUCH A GREAT IDEA...

Maybe I got a Lemon...

I was disappointed that once I installed the batteries the wand got stuck in the same place over and over and over. I would have to push down on the cap to make it move again. If it worked like it's supposed to it would have been nice product. It will be going back to the store for a refund.

breaks easily

As the previous writer wrote yes its funny to watch cats play with this toy. However, after having it for just over a month the wand broke. After close inspection it was cheaply made brittle plastic.

It did not work, need to return

Have to return and I gave it to my daughter who lives out of town for her cat and now we have the hassle of returning it

Breaks easily and not always able to fix.

Within seconds of turning on the toy, the cat pounced and was playing with it regularly until things started to break. Our cat weighs 10 pounds. When she pounced on the toy, the plastic wand that holds the lure snapped. I had to drill out the hole and re-insert the wand. Again, within days, the cat had snapped it again. This time I inserted a metal plant stake in place of the plastic. It has not broken although pounced on many times.\n\nHowever, within a few weeks, the toy started to make a loud, grinding sound. After taking it apart, I found that the plastic worm gear attached to the motor had worn out. No easy way to fix this problem.\n\nBoth of these problems could have been solved by making the wand and gear our of cheap metal instead of plastic.\nthe cost increase would be insignificant and many of the complaints and comments listed here would have been avoided.

Great Toy but very cheap

We received this toy as a gifts for my cat. My cat LOVED it. However, it just as quickly died on us. Going to try another brand to see if that will last us.

Don't waste your money

The wand did not stay in the base, so I had to tape it. I used older un-used batteries and it stopped working after about 5 minutes. I replaced the batteries with new batteries and again it worked a few minutes and quit working. Don't waste your money.

cheap piece of junk

My cat loved this toy, but it only worked for less than 10 minutes before it stopped moving. We tried to open it up and fix it, but it was completely useless. I would not recommend this to anyone. It's cheap and worthless. Although it would have been a great product had it worked as it should have.

It broke in less than 5minutes.

Didn't even get to let cats play with it. It was broke in a couple of minutes! Don't buy!

Great toy but doesn't last long

We purchased the cats meow after seeing the commercials on tv. We had it for about 2 weeks and my cat played with it all the time for hours. However the batteries wore out and when we replaced them the entire toy stopped working. it makes a loud clicking noise and the wand doesn't move anymore. So it was a waste of money in the end because now we need to buy another one.

Cost $20/Lasted minutes before dying

We bought this for our purrfect children after Christmas. If I could give this product a ZERO or a minus number, I would. The battery compartment was difficult to open after the screw was removed. One of the metal conduits fell out but was easily slipped back into its slot. That accomplished, we installed 3 fresh C batteries, replaced the compartment cover, put the yellow fabric doughnut in place, screwed on the top piece to hold the fabric, stuck the tail in place, and pushed the button. It worked. At first my cats watched it go back and forth in a semi-random pattern. One kitten swatted at the tail. Several minutes later it stopped working. I replaced the batteries. Nothing. I tried a third set of batteries. Nothing. All the batteries are new. $20 is too much to pay for something that dies long before the first set of batteries die. This is a piece of junk. It's going back to Walmart for a credit tomorrow at the latest.

Lasted about two days. =(

My 5 month kitten was absolutely in love with this toy. We only let her play with it for half an hour here and there throughout the day. Come the second day, the toy had broken down on us. She tried to get the little tail to move again, but ended up getting frustrated and ripping the little blanket that goes over the tail.\n\nA toy, for a little kitten, should bring joy, not frustration. We ended up returning it and getting something a little more durable. . . and DIDN'T run on C batteries.

OK, but not what I expected for the price.

I have four cats. When I first turned it on, they were all mesmerized by it. But the arm doesn't move that fast, and they can quickly catch it. It would have been ok if it had cost a little less. Quality is not that great.

Not Worth the money!!

I have seen this product on tv multiple times before i purchased one. i wish now that i had read consumer reviews. I brought this little toy home to my one year old kitty and her two elder kitty siblings. The youngest loved it and tormented this thing for hours. Even the older kitties got in on the action and i havent seen them play like that for years. The problem isnt that the toy is fun for kitties and they cant resist it. the problem is in the cheap makings of the product. It took the abuse, that is until the motor died! it just quit. i figured it was the 3 C batteries. i purchased new ones from walmart and guess what.. still didnt work. the toy just quit. it only lasted at best a week. I was totally surprised at how fast it quit but that this was so cheaply made and designed. does this product have potential? only if the makers totaly redesign it and give it better working parts which hold up. you cant tell your kitty sorry dont do that it will break the wand or the motor, they are cats. if you design a toy for a cat i expect it to hold up to the playing and abuse that a cat can do to it!! Not to mention the fact that C batteries are not cheap!!! if i can help someone else from making a mistake its this. HOLD ONTO THE BOX AND RECIEPT!!

My cat saw this on t.v. and wouldn't leave it alone so we ordered it. He absolutely loves it (when it's working properly)! When it arrived the cloth was already ripped, can't send it back. It takes (3) C batteries which die after about 14 hours of use. It gets bound up really easy. The teaser comes out easily. It works slightly better on a hard surface rather than carpet. But what it comes down to is that it is absolutely hilarious when the cat is playing with it and as soon as we buy a battery charger it will be completely worth it.

Buy a ton of batteries right meow!

This product really is the Cat's Meow! If your cat can afford 3 "C" batteries every 4 days. Yes, you read that correctly, "C" batteries. Seriously, it runs about 12 - 14 hours before it dies. Granted, you can opt for the rechargeable batteries at $10 for 2, and $20 for a charger, which comes to a grand total of $60 for this toy... Our cats love it though! They like to sit on the wand and hear the motor whine with an obnoxiously high pitched squeal while the wand itself doesn't move!! But let me tell you, when the wand does seem to make it's way around, it catches any little fold in the cover and seems to stop itself!\n\nSave yourself the money and buy a $2 fuzzy cat wand.

great toy

I wasn't sure if this toy would keep my cats interest, but they love it! I am especially pleased that my older cat that is over 9 yrs old is the one that plays with it the most since he is an indoor cat and sleeps almost all day. Because of my health issues I don't feel up to playing with him to exercise him and have felt guilty abiut this. Now this toy not only gives him exercise and entertainment, but eases my guilt and I really enjoy watching him play with it.\n\nThe only reason I didn't give it a top rating is because it really is hard on the "C" batteries! So what we have done is switched to RECHARGABLE battries. This way 3 of them can be charging while the other 3 are running the toy. It is way cheaper in the long run this way and the cats don't have to wait for the baateries to charge.\n\nI would recommend this toy but making sure to suggest the rechargable batteries, otherwise it would be too expensive in the long run to use and you might end up shoving in a corner and forgetting about it!

Read reviews before buying! Do not purchase!

I wish I would have read the reviews on this before I bought it. I went off what the tv displayed and like most people I bought it. I have 2 cats that lay around a lot and I wanted them to have fun for a change. I bought this and realized that batteries for this thing are going to be hard on the wallet. I got the product home and started my cats on it and it is so poorly built and weak that my cat put its paw on it and stopped it from moving at all. He held down the wand for about 10 seconds (bc that's what cats do) and the motor just stopped working. Very weak motor and cheap made. I would not buy this product if I was you!

Not the real AS Seen on TV

I first ordered this product from the AS SEEN ON TV website. My cates love love love this toy, I also gave to other cat friends and the same results. When mine broke I thought I would through Walmart to get the cats another one. Well when I received it it was broken, also NOT the same toy as they advise. The orginial has 3 or 4 speeds, also lights up and yellow skirt is a lot more sturdy then the Walmart one.. I did not bother to send it back. I wasn't going to pay shipping charges on this time..\n\nWill not buy anything from Walmart again.

Cat's Meow

After seeing many late night TV ads, I decided to buy this product. First of all, it takes 3 "C" batteries, so I don't want to leave it on endlessly. Second, our two older cats (13 and 8) aren't very interested in this toy. The younger one will watch it for about 5 minutes, but rarely will try to catch the "mouse." The older cat doesn't play with it at all. Maybe better for a kitten?

Not the real AS Seen on TV

I first ordered this product from the AS SEEN ON TV website. My cates love love love this toy, I also gave to other cat friends and the same results. When mine broke I thought I would through Walmart to get the cats another one. Well when I received it it was broken, also NOT the same toy as they advise. The orginial has 3 or 4 speeds, also lights up and yellow skirt is a lot more sturdy then the Walmart one.. I did not bother to send it back. I wasn't going to pay shipping charges on this time..\n\nWill not buy anything from Walmart again.

Maybe I got a Lemon...

I was disappointed that once I installed the batteries the wand got stuck in the same place over and over and over. I would have to push down on the cap to make it move again. If it worked like it's supposed to it would have been nice product. It will be going back to the store for a refund.
